TOP Copyright (c) 1990-1994 by TNC Technology, All Rights
Reserved, GTDR
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS:
--------------------------
TOP is intended for the IBM PC, PC/XT, PC/AT, or 100% compatibles.
DOS 3.0 or greater is required. A Microsoft compatible mouse is
recommended but not required.
TOP installation requires about 980 Kbytes of free disk space on the
destination drive. Installation to a low density floppy is not
possible.
DOCUMENTATION
-------------
Complete documentation will be created by the installation
procedure, in a file called "MANUAL.TXT".
TO INSTALL:
-----------
To install TOP, insert the TOP release disk into your floppy drive
and type:
A:INSTALL <ENTER>
Notes: If your floppy is not drive A:, substitute the appropriate
letter above
The default installation directory will be C:\TOP. You
will be given the option of specifying a different
directory during installation
During the installation you will be asked for your TOP registration
number. If this is a shareware installation and you do not have
number, just press <ENTER> at the prompt.
INSTALL does NOT modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS, it just
copies files to a directory and decompresses them. However, some
slight modifications to AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS may be
recommended - see POST-INSTALL NOTES below.
Up to date release information is available after starting TOP and
typing:
!READ_ME <F1> -- The latest release information
and
!-NEW-! <F1> -- New features in this release
HELP is available by pressing <F1>, or by pressing your left and
right mouse buttons simultaneously and releasing them over the word
HELP. A left click on any word in the HELP window accesses HELP for
that topic.
POST-INSTALL NOTES:
-------------------
It is recommended the TOP startup command be added as the last line
of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. To do this you would add the line:
c:\top\top
as the last line of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file (if you installed TOP to
the default C:\TOP). If you have DOS 5.0+ and a 386 or 486 hardware,
TOP can be loaded into upper memory with LOADHIGH. For example:
loadhigh c:\top\top
can be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT in place of the above example.
Important: If you do not have a FILES= statement in your CONFIG.SYS
file, or do not have a CONFIG.SYS file, you must create one and set
the FILES equal to or greater than 9 (the default if not specified
is 8). To create a CONFIG.SYS file from scratch (if you don't have
one) type:
cd\<ENTER>
copy con config.sys<ENTER>
files=20<CTRL+Z><ENTER>
Remember to reboot after any AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS changes so
the changes will take effect.
CHANGING TOP PARAMETERS
-----------------------
After installing TOP, change to the TOP directory and type:
TOPSET
Or press <ALT+T>
